THE DETERIORATING BODIES
OF BETTY AND PASCAL
Academic, Undergraduate 3 Architecture Studio
Chad Connery’s Inter Situ Studio
Continuing an exploration of grasses in architecture, this project serves to test the capabilities of naturally-occuring thatch in architecture. This series of concept drawings question tradition and opportunities for tooling.
The prototype created is a tool to investigate the growth and decay of wheatgrass (Pascopyrum) and birch (Betula) under frequent wet and dry cycles. A grid metric is applied to the landscape.
Betty will warp and splinter, Pascal will mould and grow stiff.
